Look, I don’t like posts that seems like plugs for companies that really need no help on the old PR side of things - but I can’t help myself. The Apple iPhone is so extremely cool and innovative that I have to talk about it. I have to start a countdown. I have to be caught up in the hype. T-minus 25 days and counting.

You know, one of the first integrations we did at Gumiyo was with the Google Data API to get some “GData”. We use it to find data on the Google Base. And coming up soon - we are going to be using it a lot more - stay tuned for that…. However, occasionally we check in on their homepage - and this morning - we were an example project!

Here is the deal - we are a small startup trying to take on the likes of CL and other giants… we don’t have time to write import tools for the dozens of mail systems floating around the web… we have to keep our eye on the prize. BUT we knew when we launched our Tell-A-Friend marketing feature a couple weeks ago, we needed a way to let our merchants import their friends in a fast, easy, reliable and secure way.

As you all know, we built our entire production and development environments on Amazon’s EC2 and S3 services. We love them. Honestly. It was one of the best business decisions we’ve made at Gumiyo. And guess what? They love us too. Yep… we are the in the customer spotlight.

Gumiyo now has a component designed to warn a seller when a spammer is engaging them in order to phish their email address or private information. Here’s how it works:
1. We monitor every incoming communication from a buyer for suspicious activity. Next to every comment, the seller sees a country flag and a safety-level indicator. If you hover your mouse over the flag, and you will get the city and region of the prospective buyer.
2. We monitor the content of every posted communication for patterns used by spammers. When we detect a spammer we then:
